This is the tree cake that Denny and Avis had at their house for our Berg Kids' Christmas party - can't remember the year right now.
Tuesday, December 31, 2013 - When I saw the picture of this cake, I had to put it in here.  It's so cool.  The only hard part was trying to cut it.  Ho, ho, ho.  Happy New Year!!! djb

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

When I got up the morning of November 29, 2013, I saw this in the eastern sky.
Wednesday, December 11, 2013 - Whenever I see a sliver of the moon, I always say, "there's God's fingernail."  No really, I do.  This was the first awesome thing I saw that morning. ~djb

Sunday, November 17, 2013

This is a full moon setting in the west from a couple of years ago.  We can't see the moon this morning because of the pending storm.
Sunday, November 17, 2013 -- 10:16 a.m. EST —Full Beaver Moon: At this point of the year, it's time to set beaver traps before the swamps freeze to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Beaver Full Moon came from the fact that the beavers are now active in their preparation for winter. It's also called the Frosty Moon. www.space.com

Sgt. Gale B. Berg - WWII
Monday, November 11, 2013 - A lot of the photos from the olden days are not real clear but you can still see how perfect my dad's posture was back in the day.  He ALWAYS stood up straight.  Mother told me that was one of the things that she first noticed about him.  He had a commanding presence.  God bless him, djb

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Wednesday, October 30, 2013 - Krissy put this together for Andrew and Jarrett's visitation on March 7, 2003.  Interestingly enough, Mother and Diane chose this same poem for Daddy's bookmark memorial card from All Faith's Cemetery.  Coincidence or ..... ? ~djb

Sunday, October 6, 2013

Here's Bob with Andrew and Jarrett in Minnesota.  If you look in the reflection in the window, you can see me waving, "Happy Birthday to Bob!"
Sunday, October 6, 2013 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOB!!!  I really love this picture because the boys were older and we're all in it...which I didn't realize until after I got the photos back. Nowadays, I'd take 20 pictures on a digital camera.  But maybe that's why these older photos are so precious because they're so rare.  Happy Boofday to Bob.  see ya later, djb

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Full Sturgeon Moon (8/20/13) at approximately 8 p.m. CDT
Full Sturgeon moon last night at approximately 9:30 p.m. CDT
Wednesday, August 21, 2013 - After I saw the picture from last month, I realized that I wanted to get a picture of the moon when the sky was dark.  I love the full moon!! djb

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Elliot was posing for me with the colorful inner tubes on August 5, 2007
Tuesday, August 6, 2013 - This picture cracks me up for so many reasons.  For one, I love the colorful tubes.  Also, the slide wasn't wobbly so I didn't have to stand there and hold it.  And it's fun to see that weeping willow tree when it was so HUGE.  It's since been pruned by Mother Nature and some tree guys.  Now it's much, much smaller.  we had joy, we had fun, we had sun, djb

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Andrew and Jarrett's crosses the night of July 20, 2013 as we were driving by on the way back from dinner with Bergy and Avis at Rosita's.
Wednesday, July 31, 2013 - Thought I'd better put a picture in the blogger blog today since it is the LAST day of July.  This just can't be real.  In the original photo, you can see Andrew's name is still on the cross that's on the left hand side in the photo.  God bless the saintly boys.  Amen, djb

Sunday, July 21, 2013

Here's Aunt Avis and Uncle Bergy posing for me at Rosita's in DeKalb last night.
Sunday, July 21, 2013 - We had such perfect weather yesterday.  It was the type of night we've always enjoyed eating outside at Rosita's.  So, I called Bergy and he and Avis met us there.  It was so ideal right until we were getting ready to leave and then some really interesting clouds moved in but we didn't get rained on.   I just remembered that I took pictures of those, too.  Okay.  more photos need to be found.  Plus, I took some pictures of corn for Grandpa.  see ya later or sooner, djb

 Andrew's evergreen tree on July 12, 2013
Jarrett's evergreen tree on July 12, 2013
Monday, July 15, 2013 - On Friday, I went into town and took along my camera so I could take pictures of the boys' trees.  It's kind of fun that you can see Andrew's tree in Jarrett's picture.  Those trees are doing so well.  They make me happy to see something alive in the cemetery.  see ya, djb

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Andrew and Jarrett's grave on June 23, 2013
Sunday, June 23, 2013 - When I stopped by to add the patriotic decorations on the shepherd's hook, I was so surprised to see that the Stella d'oro lilies had started blooming.  It's hard to see the perennial geranium flowers because the sun was shining so brightly.  But, it looks very nice.  God bless Andrew.  God bless Jarrett.  love you guys, mom

Friday, June 14, 2013

Here's a side view of the stargazer flower pot full of stargazers.
Friday, June 14, 2013 - This flower pot full of the most gorgeous stargazers ever is about 3 and a half feet tall.  It is just spectacular.  I'm still waiting for the final bloom to open.  It's in the upper right part of the photo and looks whitish.  Yeah, I'll take a picture of it.  haha, djb

Monday, June 10, 2013

This is the planter I put together with flowers I bought from Shawna at Jewel in Batavia.
Monday, June 10, 2013 - This is just the beginning stage of this planter -- I just put them all together last week.  Once the sun comes out and shines, all those pretty flowers will grow so big.  Can't wait....for the sun.  Only 11 more days until SUMMER.  What's that?  yikes, djb

Thursday, June 6, 2013

Here's a picture I took this morning of the swimming pool not looking green or brown!
Thursday, June 6, 2013 - You can't really see it, but the rain is slowly and gently falling into the pool.  That's nice, then I don't have to put iron-laden well water in there.  haha  Maybe one of these days, we'll actually get to SWIM in it.  oh boy!  see ya later, djb

Friday, May 31, 2013

This pink columbine has been living in the same spot since before the boys died.
Friday, May 31, 2013 - This is a close-up of the pink columbine that lives in a space between the asphalt and the shed.  Every year it comes up and blooms.  It proves the saying that a determined flower will bloom.  Or does that saying say, "bloom where you're planted."  Except I didn't plant this flower, one of the seeds blew into a crevice and decided to grow there.  I love it.  later, djb

Monday, May 27, 2013

Here's Hope on 4/27/2007 - exactly 6 years and 1 month ago - we got patriotic hats at the Dollar Store!
Monday, May 27, 2013 - Happy Birthday to Hope's sister, Zoe.  And Happy Memorial Day to everyone else.  It's cold here in Illinois but the girls are in Florida with their mama.  They'll be warm and having a great time on Zoe's birthday.  later, djb

Friday, May 24, 2013

Here's one of my favorite Parrot tulips.  It's so goregous!
Friday, May 24, 2013 - FULL FLOWER MOON - Today for us in Illinois and just after midnight in Florida.  As far as I'm concerned, this is my favorite moon because I love flowers so much.  They're so pretty and they make me happy.  see ya later, djb   P.S. Watch out for the crazies out there!

 Andrew & Jarrett's gravestone on May 8, 2013
Thursday, May 23, 2013 - I wanted to get a picture of Andrew and Jarrett's gravestone while the daffodils were blooming.  I added the colorful bouquets of silk flowers to keep the daffys company.  And as you can see, I left the photo taped on the stone because I like to see their faces when I go in there.  God bless the saintly boys, djb

Sunday, April 28, 2013

This is what the middle flower bed looks like now.  You can see Jarrett's candle.
Sunday, April 28, 2013 - I noticed that the last picture I put on the boys' blogger blog was of the sodden yard.  Ten days later, this is what it looks like.  The grass in the front yard isn't particularly lush yet.  Maybe some day???  At least the daffodils are blooming.  I'm thinking this bed desperately needs some mulch.  I did clean out a lot of the debris yesterday because we had NO rain.  ~djb

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Here's a photo of the front yard with lots of puddles of rain water.  The flowers are wondering when spring is going to begin.  At least, it isn't snow!
Thursday, April 18, 2013 - Happy Birthday to Chuck!  Wish you were here.  Just before noon, I put the picture of the water in front of the front door up on my blogger blog then went upstairs to watch the news.  Yikes!!  Glad we live on top of hill.  Tommy Skilling said that Aurora got 6.66 inches of rain.  I'm not sure if that is actually a measurement IN Aurora or at the airport -- which is actually in Sugar Grove -- just south of us.  This has been one weird weather year.  see ya later, djb

Saturday, March 30, 2013

On Thursday morning, I saw that the crocuses were out, I almost croaked!
Saturday, March 30, 2013 - Hap Half Birt day to me.  Yeah, that's right.  The best half birthday present I got this year was to see that the purple baby crocuses were blooming.  WOW!  Last week, these guys were covered with snow.  Amazing that nothing can stop them from their blooming mission.  see ya, djb

Wednesday, March 27, 2013

This is one of the balloons that I brought to our get-together at Schmidt's on March 3rd.
Wednesday, March 27, 2013 - Since this blog has Andrew and Jarrett's name on it, I figured I'd put a picture of them in here.  This is the last picture of them alive together on the planet.  Oh yeah, and I took it.  God bless Andrew.  God bless Jarrett.  love you both!

Monday, March 18, 2013

This is one of my African violets that started blooming a couple of weeks ago and it just won't quit.
Monday, March 18, 2013 - Happy Birthday to Karen.  I can't believe it's already this late in the month.  Isn't that weird?  Time is going by so fast.  Doncha just love that African violet.  Once I stopped trying to make them bloom, they just did it all by themselves.  Kind of like Mother's orchids.  We've decided benign neglect is the best medicine for tropical flowers.  haha later, djb

Sunday, March 10, 2013

This picture was taken just before 2 p.m. looking toward Elburn.  You can still see our neighbor's house on the right side.
This picture was taken just before 6 p.m.  Looking out the same window.  You can't see much of anything in this picture.
Sunday, March 10, 2013 - Happy Daylight Saving(s) to you!  So, where is the daylight?  We had rain all day and in combination with the heavy snow cover, it turned into the air into FOG. It's now 7:16 p.m. CDT....but I'm still living on Standard time.  Hopefully, I'll adapt sooner rather than later.  djb

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Here's Jarrett's evergreen tree that is growing in Blackberry Cemetery on March 3, 2013
Here's Andrew's white pine tree growing near Jarrett's tree in the cemetery on March 3, 2013.
Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - Don't those two trees look absolutely gorgeous sitting there on the pure white snow with a cloudless azure sky as a backdrop!!  Answer:  YES!
I'm so glad I planted those trees because it makes my heart happy to see something alive and growing connected to Andrew and Jarrett in the cemetery where they were buried 10 years ago.  djb

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

This picture of Andrew and Jarrett's candles was taken at 8:03 a.m.
This picture of the front yard (including the boys' candles) was taken at 10:01 a.m.  You can barely see the road.
Tuesday, March 5, 2013 - They keep saying on the Chicago radio station that road conditions west of Elburn on Interstate 88 are treacherous.  Gee!  I think that's entirely possible.  That's why I went to the store yesterday to stock up on supplies so we could hunker down today.  Let it snow, djb

Sunday, February 24, 2013

Here's Grandma and Grandpa posing for a picture at their 67th Anniversary Party held 3 days early for the Florida folks.
Sunday, February 24, 2013 - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 3 DAY EARLY.  Grandma sent me some photos from their anniversary get-together today with the Florida kids and grandkids and granddog.  It looks like they were having a GREAT time.  Plus, I can see that the door is open to the patio so it must have been warm.  And that's a good thing.  It makes me smile to look at this picture.  bye, djb

Friday, February 22, 2013

Here's the driveway this morning BEFORE I shoveled it down to get the newspapers.
...and here's the driveway AFTER I shoveled down and back and got my newspapers.
FEBRUARY 22, 2013 - Happy Birthday to Mammy Leigh and George Washington!  We had almost exactly 3 inches of snow during the night.  It's not the light fluffy stuff, either.  It's HEAVY!  The weather forecasters were all saying that we were going to get 3 to 6 or 7 inches of snow.  I don't think anyone got 7 inches from this storm.  The weather gods were very kind to us.  whew, djb

Friday, February 15, 2013

Here's Andrew's side of the grave decorated for his birthday.  It was very windy and I was lucky to get this picture with the balloons and flowers all together.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2013 - HAPPY 27th BOOFDAY, ANDREW!!  When I got to the cemetery to put Andrew's flowers out there with the balloons, I opened the trunk and the red carnation that I had bought wasn't there.  Apparently, the wind blew it away or I dropped it.
At least, it was a sunny day.  A little bit cool - in the 20's - but it wasn't snowing or raining.  Happy Birthday in Heaven, Andrew.  Love you always.  Miss you forever, Mom

Thursday, February 7, 2013

If you look closely, you can see the snow on the shed.  They look like lines.
Here's the view out back looking toward Elburn.  It's snow and foggy but not too cold....yet.
Thursday, February 7, 2013 - Right now outside looks like the inside of a snow globe.  It's so pretty and so wet and heavy.  Yikes!  Heart attack snow.  I think I'll just wait until it melts this time. haha later, djb

Monday, February 4, 2013

At 6:57 a.m. CST, I took this darkish photo of the front yard.
Monday, February 4, 2013 - I like this bluish photo of the front yard because it includes Andrew and Jarrett's candles.  After all, this is their blogger blog.  Once in a while, I get it right.  later, djb

Sunday, February 3, 2013

This is the end of the driveway where the newspapers were laying at 8:16 a.m. CST this morning.
Sunday, February 3, 2013 - When I go down to get the papers, I like to shovel off the end of the driveway.  Once the snow plow comes by, it'll be blocked off by a mound of more snow.  yikes!  snow flake ya later, djb

Saturday, February 2, 2013

Here's our surprise gift for GROUNDHOG DAY!  It looks like ***snow*** It is snow.  I measured it and this time, it's exactly 2 inches.
Saturday, February 2, 2013 - HAPPY RODENT DAY... I took this picture before I shoveled down to the end of the driveway.... and then I got involved in shoveling down there by the road while it was still light and fluffy.  That was about 7:30 a.m.  I went back out at 9 a.m. to get the papers and shoveled some more.  I'm doing it in stages this time so I don't freeze my feet and fingers.  Although I will have to say that since I came back in about 9:15, it's been lightly snowing ever since.  At least, it isn't below zero.  haha  snow shovel ya later, djb

Friday, February 1, 2013

UPDATE:  Here's the temperature at 6:22 a.m. CDT on February 1, 2013
Friday, February 1, 2013 - This always happens right before sunrise.... the temperature goes down a degree or two.  Brrrrrrrrrrrr, djb
At 4:36 a.m. CST it was -1 degree on February 1, 2013.
Friday, February 1, 2013 - My question that has never been answered is this:  WHY do we say one degree (singular) and zero DEGREES (plural)??? Wouldn't no degrees be singular?  Seriously, can anyone explain that me???  this is a serious brrrrrrrrrrrr, djb

Saturday, January 26, 2013

The Wolf Moon at 6:05 a.m. CST as it was setting in the west.
Saturday, January 26, 2013 - FULL WOLF MOON.  Hard to get a good picture of the full moon through the windows, behind the trees, in the dark...but it was so golden-looking, I had to try.  If it wasn't 9 degrees outside, I would have gone out on the deck to get a shot but it was just too darn cold.  brrr ya later, djb

Friday, January 25, 2013

Here's the snowplow out in the BIG snowstorm that we got this morning.  Oh boy!
Friday, January 25, 2013 - We keep getting predictions for 1-2 inches of snow...but this is all we got.  I measured it -- just below 1 inch.  We can't even get a decent snowstorm any more.  I'm definitely NOT complaining.  haha snow ya later, djb

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Here I am at my Lanier word processor at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 30 years ago.  Chicago River and Wacker Drive are 8 floors below.
Wednesday, January 16, 2012 - Hurray!!!  I finally figured out how to get into my Google stuff, i.e., this blog and my Picasa photos!!  WOW!  Now, I'm in business.  At least, I can communicate via the blogs since my computer is sick. I'm using Bob's laptop and it's just not the same.
My computer has a "motherboard" problem.  I'm so used to using the desktop computer as opposed to the laptop that this is quite a learning process for me....especially trying to access my STUFF!  Hopefully, by Friday I'll have my OWN computer back here.  Gotta go check on my gmail.... see ya later, djb

Friday, January 11, 2013

Here's Marc and Diane in Florida - I think it was in 2009 at Christmas.
Friday, January 11, 2013 - Happy Birthday to Marc!!  I noticed when I typed the name for this photo, I wrote March instead of Marc.  That cracks me up.  My fingers and brain aren't always connected.  Hope you have fun on your boofday!  later, djb

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Every Christmas, I stick these two little snowmen in my Hindu rope plant.
Wednesday, January 2, 2013 - After I put the batteries in the miracle camera, I decided to take a picture of these little snowmen because they're so cute. WOW! It's like I got a Christmas present from heaven.  Seriously, I love cameras!!!  I've been looking at buying a new one and just couldn't find what I wanted.....when all this time, what I wanted was right in my own back yard (or more precisely, the computer room) I wonder what else is hiding in here??? hmmmm  freeze ya later, djb
