Here's Grandpa, Jarrett, not sure who's behind Andrew (looks like Kimberly) at Woodhaven quite a few years ago.

Monday, October 11, 2010 - On Saturday, the air smelled exactly like Woodhaven (autumn leaves burning). It was marvelous!! I've read that it isn't necessarily the brain by itself that recalls everything but the brain coupled with the nose that smells the smells and triggers the memory of an event. WOW! That's true.

We always had such a good time at Woodhaven. It was like an alternate universe where people came to get away from it all and time stood still. Although it did seem as though some people brought it ALL with them...it was still an idyllic getaway place. They didn't have phone service for years.

There were rules and regulations relating to the size of the trailer (mobile or not so mobile home) and attachments but I was amazed and amused at the way people decorated the outside with lighted patios. They planted flowers -- mostly hosta because it was so shady. And everyone had a fire pit.

It was a sweet place. Plus, they had a couple of lakes, a large swimming pool, a nature center (interesting choice because they were located in the MIDDLE OF NATURE) and a small grocery store, a bank and a couple of other big community type center buildings.

It was pretty much self contained. Yeah, I know I'm forgetting some of the things. Whatever. The boys LOVED the fire pit -- whether it was putting more wood on the fire or cooking a hot dog or the best part: burning marshmallows!!!

Oh boy. Wonder how things are down there? hmmm Probably the same. Time to skedaddle. later, djb
