Monday, Stormy Monday, July 11, 2011 - I just finished writing on Donna's Blog, so I thought I'd add a few more storm-related comments here on the boys' blog.

From The Chicago Tribune Website:

Driving rain and hail pelted the Chicago area as fast-moving thunderstorms packing 75 mph winds halted flights, stopped trains. As of 10 a.m., Commonwealth Edison reported 660,000 customers without power: 298,000 north of the city, 156,000 west of the city, 116,000 in Chicago and Maywood, 90,000 in the south.

In the Crystal Lake area, more than 10,000 were without power, according to the ComEd outage map. “There are quite a few power lines and trees down,” said Pay Alaynick, Crystal Lake Police Department office coordinator. “Residents need to be careful.”

The storms hit the area around 8 a.m., with Doppler radar showing a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing 70 mph winds and quarter-size hail.

The storms moved in at 70 mph. Midway Airport clocked winds of 75 mph and O'Hare Airport saw 63 mph winds mph as 65 mph winds hit Naperville. High high winds downed trees in Warrenville and other area towns.

This is wild! I'm thankful that things weren't any worse than they were. And to think that Saturday and Sunday were such perfectly gorgeous days. Especially Saturday. see ya later, djb
